Here's what's coming up in East Tennessee Comedy this week…


On Sunday July 24th, we have our weekly Open Mic Comedy at the Preservation Pub. Show starts at 8pm, with no cover, great deals on beer, and some of Knoxville's up and coming comedians along with some seasoned comedy vets there to entertain and pleasure you. Coming up on the Tuesday July 26th (and every Tuesday), Einstein Simplified, Knoxville's leading improv troupe, will be at Side Splitters from 8:30 to 10:30pm. On the 27th, it's establishment time, when Side Splitters holds it's Comic's Night Out! Open mic from 8 to 10:30pm in SID's Lounge.

On July 29th, JJ's Bohemia down in Chattanooga will have "The Roast of Joel Ruiz". Yea, I don't like him either…which makes a roast a very good idea. However, he has been quite the driving force in comedy in the Chattanooga area.

All this week, The Comedy Catch will be finishing up the preliminary rounds for "The Scenic City Comedy Search"…I'll be rooting for the dude with the bag on his head. Also, in Giggles Grill, "Gettin' Up In Your Grill Open Mic" will be happening on July 29th at 8pm. Really hope Old Aunt Vern shows up…I love her…and main attraction this week: Cledus T. Judd!

In Johnson City, Woody J will be hosting standup at The Comedy Zone on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th, 8pm to 10:15pm! He hasn't figured out what's going to happen, but he's pretty sure French poodles and cheez-wiz will be involved.

And that brings us back to Knoxville. Side Splitters will be presenting Tommy Blaze for three nights (28-30th), and we'll be back at the Preservation Pub for the last Open Mic of the Month!
